The headlamp optical system is a combination of bulb, reflector and lens. According to the different optical system structures of the headlamp, the headlamp can be divided into three types: semi enclosed, enclosed and projected.

1. Semi enclosed headlamp

The light distribution mirror and reflector of semi enclosed headlamp are stuck together and cannot be disassembled. The bulb can be installed from the rear end of the reflector. The advantage of semi enclosed headlamp is that only the bulb needs to be replaced after the filament is burnt out. The disadvantage is poor sealing. 2. Enclosed headlamp

Sealed beam headlamps are also divided into standard sealed beam headlamps and tungsten halogen sealed beam headlamps.

The optical system of standard enclosed headlamp is to fuse the reflector and light distribution mirror into a whole to form a bulb shell, and the filament is welded on the reflector base. The reflecting surface of the reflector is vacuum aluminized, and the lamp is filled with inert gas and halogen. This structure has the advantages of good sealing performance, free from atmospheric pollution, high reflection efficiency and long service life. However, after the filament is burnt out, the entire light set needs to be replaced, which is costly.

3. Projection headlamp

The optical system of projection headlamp is mainly composed of bulb, reflector, visor and convex lens. The thick, non engraved convex light distribution mirror is used, and the reflector is oval. So its outer diameter is very small. Projective headlamps have two focal points, the first being the bulb and the second being formed in the light. Gather light through convex lens and throw it into the distance. Its advantages are good focus performance, and its ray casting methods are:

(1) The light from the bulb to the upper part is projected to the second focus through the reflector, and then focused to the far distance through the convex light distribution lens.

(2) At the same time, the light from the bulb to the lower part is reflected by the light shielding mirror, which is reflected back to the mirror and then projected to the second focus, which is focused by the convex light distribution mirror and projected to the distance.
